INT 22r-2a Highlights Report
Neutron Rich Matter on Heaven and Earth
June 26 - 30, 2023
K. Chatziioannou, J. Piekarewicz, and A. Watts
The one-week workshop followed the very successful two-week program that took place in the summer of 2022. As in the program, the main goal of the workshop was to understand the profound impact of recent discoveries that have strengthened the connection between nuclear physics and astrophysics in the brand new era of multi-messenger astronomy. Dedicated sessions, delivered largely by early career scientists, focused on the most significant developments in the domains of electromagnetic observation, gravitational-wave detections, nuclear structure, and theory. Particularly relevant is the fact that many of the fundamental questions addressed in this workshop were reaffirmed in the recently released Long Range Plan for Nuclear Science: A New Era of Discovery.
